Cotton is Molting!

Oh my...... Cotton is molting finally! June weather this year has been quite hot with average temperature going at 30 deg C indoor. Maybe Cotton sheds during Summer time?

Look at his grouchy face as usual whenever I groom him. But instead of a weekly grooming affair, it's daily now. I have no idea when his molting will complete but it's been about a week since he starts to molt. Today's waste fur collection by far is the most.

Combing his back is the hardest as he moves and fidgets easily. It's hard to stationary him this way, unlike Koogle.

Removing the loose fur and repeat combing repetitively. Whenever I clear the furs out of the comb teeth, Cotton will try to take the chance to escape. What a tiring affair.

Cotton, can you be more cooperative with Mummy, please?

In memory of my Princess, Mi-yeon.

Dear Mi-yeon,

My Mi-yeon. You left us so suddenly on 19-Jun (Thur) night at close to 10pm. Mummy still finds it hard to accept your departure and hopes to hug you again. You're my first human bun....very human bun. You shown to Cotton how trusting humans can be by chest hugging position. My happiest moment with you is also lying you on my chest on the sofa while watching TV together. You could really laid there for as long as 30 odd mins!

Because of you, Cotton gets to eat his fresh vegetables everyday at 6pm instead of alternate weeks basis. Because of you, you brought out the gentlebun of Cotton. And because of you, every ND with similar feature as you like Suki from BW, I too want to hug them as well.

Mummy been self labelling as a 'Tiger mummy' because I do not want to spoil you and become a Paris Hilton. I was told you were a fussy eater who eats only APD gold and no stem, a tantrum thrower who demands attention when needed one, absolutely no begging for treats and slight aggressive if displeased. But mummy believes is because no one shows you what is good-behavior all about or lacks the 1-1 interaction with humans. Cotton and I showed you all these and slowly, you opened up to us: you joined our treats exercise routine, you began taking treats more gently from our fingers, you responded your name, you ate whatever hay was given and the stems and you were never aggressive towards Mummy but at most a little grunting noise if disapproved some of my doings. Do you know that except for your occasion stray pee issue, you are almost a perfect bun?

Then Koogle came along and Mummy did not give you and Cotton the attention you all needed. Mummy thought that since both of you were bonded and seems quite stable - there were many times Mummy caught you both lovey dovey together and you even started to clean Cotton longer each time and frequently. Mummy thought you and Cotton would be just fine among yourselves while Mummy could focus nursing Koogle back to health. Mummy knew Cotton was upset when Koogle came to our house on the 1st day but never knew you would too. Mummy noticed of reduced appetite from both of you but never thought much of and with the mentality 'as long they ate, is fine'; Mummy never thought you and Cotton would fight and fought badly and worst, ignored the bruise at your lower lip because I thought it be self healed over the time. (Thanks Yola for triggering me to recall about the bruise albeit not in time by sharing her experiences about her bunnies).

Perhaps it's the pain from the bruise from the fight causing you to loss appetite; perhaps you were angry with Mummy for neglecting attention to you so you ate lesser; perhaps it could be combination of both reasons but Mummy will never know. Please believe that Mummy was trying to rescue you when syringe feeding you with the Critical Care paste. I have never done it before and placed you at trauncing position on my lap and syringe feed all by myself. Mummy realizes my mistake and truly regret about it....if only time can be reverse. Now Mummy has learnt wiser and syringe feeding Koogle his medicine with Daddy's help.

Mi-yeon, do you know that your departure also let Mummy sees the ugliness of humans' heart? Those who outrightly claimed to love you more than their own never once contact Mummy about you or your well being. Then they shed crocodile tears upon hearing about your leaving and demanded your body. Their extremity to even found out which casket company Mummy has arranged for you and halt their work and pressured Mummy to release your body to them. Mummy was and still is distraught over your death and their demands simply overboard, hurtful and disrespectful. They never once asked a word of concern about your husbun's well being after they heard of your death. They spammed and harassed Mummy with SMSes and Facebook channel about your carcass. And no, they never even said 'Take Care' or a word of consolation to Mummy and Daddy and definitely nothing for Koogle. On the contrary, they claimed themselves as bunnies' lovers and local rescuers. To add salt to Mummy's wound, they always address you by your old name all the while.

Mummy loves you and you are always a part of my family since the date I adopted you. Even if you blame Mummy for being strict with you while you were alive or causing your demise, Mummy hopes that you will bless Cotton be safe and Koogle be healthy before you binky to heaven. You will always be my Princess human bun.

Love you always,
Mummy.

Mi-yeon the Fashionista Bun

Athen fairy

Maleficient Princess

Cotton, Mi-yeon and their pen-pals

Hugging Cotton

Today is Father's Day and Cotton once again did something to surprise us - he let me hold him at my chest without any struggle!

That's super rare for Cotton! I think it must Mi-yeon's credit. I always holding Mi-yeon on my chest and Cotton will watch so he must be feeling safe when I tried to hold him on my chest. See how well he did.

Cotton is really a darling and slowly opening up his heart to humans. :D

Burger Excel Pellets

Dear Blogspot:

Bunwife and I love this brand of pellets. Mummy got it free from someone whose bunny does not like. One bunny's meat is another bunny's poison indeed.

Look! We finished this pack within 2 weeks. Totally love it.

Love,
Cotton

Picnic Basket as carrier

At the trip to Toyogo warehouse, I also bought a picnic basket which is large enough to place 2 medium sized bunnies.

This will be very useful when we are bringing 3 bunnies out to visit vet one of these days. Or during cleaning their pen/cage.

Best of all, this basket costs $7.90! It's a steal!

First encounter with Koogle

On the first day that I brought Koogle home, Cotton began to behave strangely.

He excreted cecotrophs 7x and I have to clean up 7x.

His diet has not changed and so I picked him up to stroke him and for the first time, he allowed me to. He even cooperated with me and I could effortless stroke him. No struggle put up at all. Cotton, I did not know you will also be jealous because you display no emotion when Mi-yeon came. Hahahaha how cute Cotton is.

Check out Kooger's blog on the video of their first encounter face-to-face!

Newlywed indeed!

They snuggle together often lately.....

This pose is so Korean......hahahahha

Watch out this space!

Renovating the newlywed litter box again!

So they are bonded and bonded rabbits tend to eat together so Cotton and Mi-yeon also make no differences.

I have a strict discipline for all my bunnies - must eat inside their litter box except treats for exercise.

Originally, I combined their litter boxes together (Size: 41.5cm X 30.5cm X 10.5cm (Height)) but their food tray cannot be placed together. So one of them would have to pop their head over in order to eat together. But that's still acceptable until when they tried to eat the food at the hanging metal bowls side. They would have to squeeze and usually they took turn to eat when comes to food at the metal bowls.

Ok, so that's not going to work well. So I tried to recycle by using the cage drawer since it's larger at size. I also bought the plastic grid from nearby aquarium shops which costs 1 piece for $1. I bought 6 pieces to try. The grid is to reduce bedding and poops being kicked out by them from litter box.

So far, it seems to work...... until Mi-yeon began her stray peeing spree again. Ok, she wants her private litter box. So a 2nd litter box is placed next to the cage drawer.

To prevent Mi-yeon from eating outside of the litter box, I added a metal grid to block the access. That night, Mi-yeon seems unhappy with the new addition and stray peed 2 puddles! Argh!

So I decided to go Toyogo and get the larger tray (40x53x7.6 cm) as I won't need to change 2 litter boxes. I realize that Mi-yeon will stray pee if I did not change their litter box daily. By trial and error, I found a way to trick Mi-yeon that I changed the litter box daily and so far, she does not stray pee for past 2 days. *finger crossed*

I tricked Mi-yeon that the used litter box was cleaned by re-mixing those un-used bedding with the used.

Now the couple can eat together instead of taking turns to eat.

The trip to get the larger tray is worth it.

Another 2 sheltered bunnies are being groomed today!

Another 2 bunnies groomed today!

It's pretty satisfying for me. This brown lop took me 2hrs to complete!

This netherland dwarf lionhead mixed is really identical to Mi-yeon, except that he's a true albino while Mi-yeon has black eyes. He's pretty clean except for some matted fur at his back. His right eye is still recovering from an injury :(

Most incredibly, I get to pose with Suki!

Suki's story is yet another abandoned rabbit case. She's such a darling and popular, there have been many comments asking to adopt her. I personally feel she looks like Mi-yeon - a Netherlands dwarf mixed, only the coat color is slightly different. Isn't she beautiful?
