As Big Like A Diamond

Omg!!!! Cotton's poops really turn brown after 6 consecutive days of 99% of Oxbow Timonthy hays. This is absolutely fabulous! For the first time, I debunk my initial own belief that Cotton's poops can never turn brown due genetic. Damn I'm so wrong!

And look at the size of his poops!!! Just like a 5 carat diamond to me. :D

I'm motivated to give only 1 tbs of pellets on Sat mornings and occasion fresh vegetables on weekdays. Only his NS supplement remains status quo. His poops also lesser moist feeling. Cotton eats a lot of hays too and he is more active these days too.  Way to go, Cotton!

Brown Poops!

Omg!!! Cotton's poops are brown color!

I cannot believe it. I always thought Cotton default poop color is dark to black poops because given the same kind of diet, Koogle's poops are brownier.

The diet: recently I decided to cut down and hopefully to eventually wean them off pellets. Current plan is to give them pellets on weekends while hays at 24-7 on weekdays with an occasion fresh vegetables.

Just on 2nd day and wa-lah, Cotton's poops become brown, clear distinct brown. I dont know why the picture turns out not so brown, maybe lighting reason.

I tried to compare an old picture of Cotton's poops but I think the contrast is not obvious in the picture, again might be due to lighting and angle differences.

Size wise, there isn't much change. Cotton also pretty manja (Malay word for being human friendly and approachable) to me for past 2 days. He's expecting his pellets for breakfast and I'm giving them none. Koogle also been observing me from his cage to check if Cotton been given pellets.

Koogle is a rather stubborn and less smarter buck who would stand and wait for his pellets breakfast while Cotton knew something not usual and already been munching his hays. At 9am yesterday via IP camera, Koogle finally realized that pellets was not going to happen and started to eat his hays.

The past 2 days of 24/7 hays meals also resulted Cotton to lose some weight. I feel he is less chubbier when I cuddled him to feed him Fiberplex. Awwwwww.....really pains me to see him lost some weight. I miss the chubby Cotton and always nice to hug-squeeze him.

However this morning, I made an exception and gave them 1tbs pellets and they finished it within minutes. No more exception, I promise myself. :X

Settling Mi-yeon down

When Mi-yeon first arrived to stay with us, I noticed her poop size was particularly smaller than Cotton's. Concerned, I texted through Betty to find out from her foster parents if that's 'normal' for her. And their reply was, it was not normal. I took a picture of her poop with Cotton's for their reference too.

Mi-yeon's poop (Top) versus Cotton's (Bottom). This was the observation for first 3 days for Mi-yeon. I fed her with APD Gold and Oxbow Timothy in 1:1 proportion and it was suspected maybe she's not used to eating Oxbow hay. However my gut feeling tells me maybe she just have not adjusted to her new environment but at least she is still eating so I continued monitoring her poop.

Then on her 4th day, I saw larger poop in her litter box and playpen in the morning. Mi-yeon's poop litter habit is not as good as Cotton's. There will always be about 10 or so poops on her pen after a clean up. Based on these new poops, I'm happy to say it's now comparable to Cotton's. I did not give her more APD Gold and in fact, I give her more Oxbow hay instead. For her case, the root cause is likely be due to psychological stress.

Let me put the 2 pictures side-by-side for better comparison.

Can you see the differences now? Left picture was taken on her 2nd day and right picture was taken on her 4th. Top: Mi-yeon's; Bottom: Cotton's
